 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Chalamthang is a village in Namchi district of Sikkim and is located 102 km. approx. from New Jalpaiguri Station. It is  half an hour drive from Singtham, its nearest town and it is totally off beat destination.  Chalamthang has adopted Community Based Homestay since the year 2015.Chalamthang has started the initiative to become cleanest organic village in Sikkim in the year 2018. They served food from their own cultivation. Food quality was also very good.

Chalamthang untouched by tourist rush, here you can pick up vegetables from the garden and give it to our kitchen for fresh salads or you can visit Kaleej Khola – the local rivulet gurgling through the rocky slopes to get a dip or do some fishing. You can go trekking to nearby caves and hilltops or enjoy cultural programs and barbeques in the evening.

Our homestay in Chalamthang is located on the edge of a hilltop with a panoramic view of the Himalayan foothill, the meandering Teesta River and the snowy peaks of Nathula and beyond. We have made a Machaan (watch tower) for our guests from where they can enjoy these mesmerizing views.

CANCELLATION rules?

Cancellation request received 7 days prior to arrival, 10% deduction.
Cancellation request received 3-7 days prior to arrival, 25% deduction.
Cancellation received 1-3 days prior to arrival, 50% deduction.
Cancellation received 24 hours prior to arrival, NO REFUND will be allowed.
During the stay or on arrival, if part cancellations are requested, NO REFUND will be allowed.

HOUSE RULES ?

Accommodation is only available on pre-booking.
All food served at our homestay are veg. Non-veg food (if required) can be arranged in nearby establishment.
Porters are available for carrying luggage, however, you have to climb steps to reach the machan area & homestay.
You must carry photo identification proof (Adhaar Card/ Voter id) and a photocopy of the identification proof with you while checking in. Otherwise, rooms will not be allotted to you on arrival.

Local Sightseeing

At Chalamthang village – time runs slow. Most of the sightseeing options can be covered on foot. Transport arrangements for local sightseeing is also done by us. Here are few places, where you can visit during your stay:

Heritage House

The 160-year-old local heritage house at Chalamthang is truly a wonder. Made completely with locally available materials like wood, bamboo and Siru, this wonder house is standing strong after countless earthquakes and natural hazards. Tucked within a small valley, the present owners show their house to the guests proudly. Cultural programs are usually held at the backdrop of this house.

Ban Jakhri Cave

Jakhris or witch doctors of Sikkim are known to cure many ailments of the villagers and control the natural elements. They are said to dwell in caves far from the human settlements and came down to meet the commoners during crisis. One such cave can still be seen a few kilometers from Chalamthang after a short trek. Traditional antics like sticks and musical instruments can be found in the caves too.

Daras of Chalamthang

Dara refers to the highest point of a hill and surrounding Chalamthang are various such Daras like the Harray Dara, which is very sacred to newly married couples who come here to seek blessings for a successful conjugal life, then there is the Deorali Dara from where you can catch a panoramic view of the surrounding villages and mountain ranges.
